What Sort of Celebrity Involvement is Best?

Here is an audio report from NPR: Charity, and the Benefits of Celebrity Involvement

It was published in 2005 but it’s topical for this blog, so check it out.

Weekend Edition Sunday, January 9, 2005 ·

Elizabeth Blair reports that the desire to provide relief to the victims of the tsunami extends to musicians and performers. Celebrities can use their fame to hold benefits that pull in a flood of donations but they may not be as effective in managing those donations to do the most good. How does the philanthropic community view these celebrity attempts to do good?

Interesting.  It’s best for celebs to just “get out their checkbooks” according to this report.  What do you think?
