The CNN Heroes Broadcast

I’ve mentioned this CNN effort before, but the special aired this Thursday night.  I’m watching it right now 😉

Basically, CNN asked its viewers to nominate people they thought should be honored as heros.  CNN received over 7,000 nominations.  Their panel narrowed it down to 18 finalists.  All of the finalists received a $10,000 grant from CNN not to mention having attention brought to the causes they fight for.

It’s nice to see celebrities and other notable people honor those everyday people who are making the world a better place.

An Ecuadoran lawyer leading a landmark environmental lawsuit, a U.S. expatriate who encourages attendance at rural African schools and a Ugandan missionary who runs a boarding school for girls abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army were given special recognition at “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” Thursday night.
